A Brother's Warning
by John Ahlschwede

Jimmy, Jimmy, through the wall.
Please take care that you don't fall.
Which governs best, governs least--
So with man, and so with beast.
As through carnal tombs you walk,
Searching, scanning like a hawk,
Do not the must and mold up-stir
Take heed with ancient sepulchre!
When entering earth, as if to hell,
Angels won't the Fates dispell.
So be alert and watch your back,
Watch like guards fearing attack.
For it is that which you won't spy,
Which will bade you eternal lie.
Don't think me like an old wife,
My one concern is thine own life.
Though there be ancient graves to sack,
No others have yet once come back.
So if you must walk through Gralth'mhan's tomb,
Like a child returned to womb,
Keep a calm, collected head,
Fear not the corpse, but that not dead.
For though Gralth'mhan has for centuries rested,
I fear his tomb has been infested.
If by thieves or if by ghouls
They'll surely slay unweary fools.
So please restrain your lust for gold,
And peacefully you may grow quite old.
But entry of that place of death,
Will witness you your final breath.
And I shall be here yet and cry,
For a fresh corpse shall by Gralth'mhan lie.
